How a 5-acre homestead is shaping the next chapter of Cantrell Creek
“I will not follow where the path may lead, but I will go where there is no path, and I will leave a trail.” — Muriel Strode
We didn’t set out with a clear route — but when the opportunity appeared, we knew it was unmistakably right.
We purchased a 5-acre hobby farm: a single-wide manufactured home in need of renovation, a 12x32 outbuilding that we’ll call home in the meantime, and a workshop that will become the epicenter of imagination and creation.

The property also hosts 10 raised garden beds, fruit trees, herb gardens, and a chicken coop — which we’ll be relocating before any animals arrive.
This land isn’t just a backdrop — it’s part of the story now. The home needs work, but we’re not starting from scratch. Dustin brings over two decades of building experience, and I help shape the vision behind each space. Together, we’re laying the groundwork — with sawdust, sketches, and a lot of intention.
What began as frustration within ourselves — the feeling that we were out of step with the life we wanted — eventually took shape in the form of handcrafted fishing nets and wooden fly boxes. It was a micro business we built for ourselves — a way to slow down, work with our hands, and create something that felt honest. Over time, those small, steady acts of craftsmanship led us here: to a deeper kind of living.
It started with a realization — that we weren’t living in a reality that was pure or natural. Not fully. Not in the way we knew we were meant to.
Cantrell Creek was built to give us permission to get back to that place.
A slower rhythm. A deeper stream. Lives carved by the experiences we’ve been cultivated in.
What began with handcrafted goods is now unfolding into something more. This homestead gives us space to live with intention, to create sustainably, and to let our lifestyle shape the work we do — not the other way around.
This isn’t a pivot. It’s the next expression of what Cantrell Creek has always been: a workshop, a garden, a rhythm. A life rooted in steady work and bold intention.
We’re dreaming of more — a dedicated shop, new goods inspired by the land, and honest stories that document the real work of building something that matters. Our hope is to create not just things, but a way of life that invites others to come home to themselves — one handmade piece, one wild step at a time.
