30 Days In: Preparation That Holds

30 Days In: Preparation That Holds

More than a rebuild- we're reclaiming a more pure and natural state.

We said goodbye to the path and welcomed this unmarked terrain. We're not lost. We're not chaotic. We're rooted. We're pacing ourselves.

As we reflect on the first 30 days, we're taking a pause to honor what brought us here. The life we lived before mattered- it shaped us, stretched us, and gave us the clarity to choose something different.

Getting here wasn't easy. Most days felt like climbing blind- no clear holds, no obvious anchors. And then others appeared. Their presence revealed what we couldn't see on our own. The path didn't change, but it became clearer.

That's what this season has felt like: steep climbs, unexpected clarity, and the quiet relief of knowing we don't have to figure it all out alone.

We're still in the thick of preparation- but our perspective is shifting. This isn't just physical work. It's foundation setting. And it's holding.

Clearing Space. Creating Vision.

We moved into the 12x32 outbuilding we call 1st Ward- but not before painting the interior and installing cabinets and counters for functionality.

In the trailer, we:

  • Removed popcorn ceilings
  • Mudded, sanded, and caulked trim
  • Primed ceilings and the main bedroom

  • Removed all flooring
  • Cut out and reframed the front door for a 36" install
  • Completed Subflooring in the living room

In the Workshop, we:

  • Build space cleaned and operational- a critical move since this space is the heartbeat of the property.

In the Thick of it, we:

  • Cleared leaves and debris from around the trailer, fencing, outbuildings, chicken coop, and animal shelter
  • Collected and removed scattered tires from the gardens and property
  • Weeded and mulched 10 garden beds
  • Trimmed overgrowth to reach animal shelter

  • Hauled multiple loads of trash from the property
  • Cut a ditch to allow water to drain properly
  • Discovered our blackberry bush
  • Planted tomatoes, basil, rhubarb

Before Restoration Can Run Deep

Not rushed. Not frantic This is preparation with presence- movement with intention.

We're organizing our belongings. Clearing out what doesn't belong. Breaking down old foundations - in our home, on our land, and within ourselves.

This is the part that doesn't always look like progress - but it is. Because preparation isn't passive. It's powerful. It's necessary.

We're not trying to arrive overnight. We're building something real - month by month- capturing the prep, the pivots, and the purpose behind every step.

This is what process looks like: grounded, imperfect, and full of becoming.
